Research Ethics Policy
The Uzbek Journal "Problems of Mechanics" requires all submitted manuscripts to comply with accepted principles of research integrity, ethical conduct, accuracy, transparency, and responsible scientific practice.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research complies with applicable legal, institutional, professional, and ethical requirements. The journal follows relevant guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Research Integrity
Authors must:
- present research results accurately and honestly;
- avoid fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, and manipulation of data or images;
- cite all sources appropriately;
- include as authors only individuals who meet the journal’s authorship criteria;
- disclose relevant conflicts of interest, funding sources, and substantive use of artificial intelligence tools;
- obtain all necessary permissions for the use of data, software, figures, materials, equipment, and intellectual property.
Ethics Approval
Most theoretical, computational, and engineering studies in mechanics do not require formal ethics approval.
However, ethics approval must be obtained where research involves:
- human participants or identifiable personal data;
- human-derived materials;
- animals;
- activities requiring institutional, legal, environmental, or safety oversight.
Where ethics approval is not required, authors may state:
Ethics approval: Not applicable.
Where approval is required, the manuscript must identify the approving body and approval number, where available.
Human Participants and Personal Data
Research involving human participants, surveys, interviews, professional assessments, or identifiable personal data must comply with applicable ethical and data-protection requirements.
Authors must obtain informed consent where required and protect participant privacy and confidentiality.
Experimental, Field, and Industrial Research
Authors must obtain all required institutional, site, laboratory, industrial, safety, or governmental permissions before conducting experimental or field research.
Research activities must:
- comply with applicable safety and environmental requirements;
- avoid unjustified risk to people, property, infrastructure, and the environment;
- use equipment and facilities lawfully and responsibly;
- disclose any significant hazards or limitations.
Data and Methodological Transparency
Authors must describe methods, experimental conditions, materials, software, computational models, assumptions, calculations, and analytical procedures in sufficient detail to support evaluation and reproducibility.
Research data and supporting materials must be retained and provided to the journal when reasonably required.
Required Declarations
Where applicable, each manuscript must include statements concerning:
- ethics approval;
- informed consent;
- funding;
- conflicts of interest;
- author contributions;
- data availability;
- use of artificial intelligence tools.
Non-Compliance
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s ethical requirements may be returned, rejected, suspended, or investigated.
Where serious concerns are identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, Expression of Concern, or retraction in accordance with its applicable policies.
Policy Administration
This policy is effective from 1 August 2026 and will be reviewed periodically.
