Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
The Uzbek Journal "Problems of Mechanics" is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, integrity, and accessibility of its published scholarly content.
The journal recognizes that digital preservation is different from indexing. DOI registration, search-engine visibility, and inclusion in bibliographic databases do not by themselves constitute long-term digital preservation.
Current Preservation Status
As of the effective date of this policy, the journal has not yet completed active deposit of its published content with an external long-term digital preservation service.
The journal is working to establish an appropriate preservation arrangement compatible with its publishing platform. A preservation service will be identified in this policy only after the successful deposit and preservation of journal content have been technically confirmed.
Interim Preservation Measures
Until external long-term preservation is activated, the publisher is responsible for maintaining recoverable copies of:
- published article files;
- issue files;
- article and author metadata;
- DOI-related metadata;
- the journal database and essential platform records.
Backup copies must be stored separately from the primary journal platform and periodically checked for accessibility and restoration.
Future External Preservation
The journal intends to deposit its content continuously in a recognized long-term digital preservation service, such as PKP Preservation Network or another appropriate service.
The installation or activation of an archiving plugin alone will not be treated as confirmation that the journal content has been preserved.
Once active preservation is verified, this policy will be updated to indicate:
- the name of the preservation service;
- the date preservation became active;
- the types and years of content preserved;
- any applicable access or recovery conditions.
Publication Continuity
The journal seeks to ensure that published articles remain accessible even in the event of technical failure, migration to another platform, or discontinuation of the journal or publisher.
Published content, metadata, and DOI links will be maintained and transferred where technically and legally possible.
Policy Review
The journal will periodically review its preservation arrangements and update this policy when an external archival service becomes operational.
This policy is effective from 1 August 2026.
